About me

My name is Lachlan Mahoney. I am 17 and Australian, but for the past several years I have been living in Mongolia after moving from England. I have been to 31 countries and been photographing them for about 4 years. I am a self taught photographer with the dream of one day making it big in the industry. This blog is my way of sharing my world with everyone, and bringing them along on my amazing adventures as well as showing how I progress with my photography. I currently am shooting on a fuji x100s (which is something I absolutely adore), I do also shoot on my Canon 600D with a few different lenses. I hope you guys enjoy my blog, since the I started it almost a year ago the support I've gotten has been amazing. So if you feel like it share it with anyone you want.

Thank you all so much.

Living in a ger

Just some of the better photos that I took while I was at righteous living this week. It really is amazing to see all of these face, and the stories they have behind it. As well as the fact that some of these people have come from a normal life and now have next to nothing. It really is amazing to see just how happy they are.

A Fall From Grace

Living in Mongolia gives me plenty of opportunities to take some amazing photos of some amazing people. This is a photo of one of the new families at righteous living, they use to be a normal family living and working the the city. The mother was an accountant and the father was and is an extremely gifted musician. Then all of that vanished from their lives because of alcohol. It just goes to show how important an organisation like this can be that they are going to be able to help this family get back on their feet, and move back into the normal life that once had.

Chinese tourists in China

Something that I noticed when I was in China is that the majority of the tourists are actually Chinese. And it made me realise just how lucky I really am. I'm 17 and been to 32 countries, while this older Chinese generation may have never left their hometown. Their idea of a holiday is going to see the rest of China. Just something I thought was interesting in my recent travels. Hope you guys agree

Family Day Out

Just a cute moment I saw while I was in China. In a very low light tunnel so definitely nothing amazing. But just something I thought was cute

One of the Most Magnificent Animals

As a kid growing up in Queensland, I was taught that the Black swan is only found in Australia, but over this Autumn break which was a little while ago now. I discovered these beautiful animals in China in the Panda reserve, when I asked the lady who was guiding us whether they were native or from Australia, she seemed convinced they were native to China. And if they are that's definitely amazing.
I hope you guys like these photos.

Capturing the Moment

After a very successful volleyball tournament for both the boys and girls, the guys getting gold for the seventh year and the row and the girls just missing out after an extremely intense and hard fought finals. This was one of the images that I got that captured the intensity of the girls finals pretty well.

Traditional shopping street

On one of the last days of my China trip over Autumn break I went to the oldest shopping street in Chengdu. This place is just outside of one of the oldest temples and once was a very traditional shopping centre. But in recent years it has become very modernised with very modern shops and coffee houses like starbucks and places like that. But there are still a lot of little stands showing some of the more traditional goods that you can buy.

I hope you guys like. I just came back from my 2nd China trip in 2 weeks. And we won our Volleyball tournament 7th year in a row. I'm extremely proud of my team and will show some of the highlights once I get a chance. Hope you guys enjoy.
