About me

My name is Lachlan Mahoney. I am 17 and Australian, but for the past several years I have been living in Mongolia after moving from England. I have been to 31 countries and been photographing them for about 4 years. I am a self taught photographer with the dream of one day making it big in the industry. This blog is my way of sharing my world with everyone, and bringing them along on my amazing adventures as well as showing how I progress with my photography. I currently am shooting on a fuji x100s (which is something I absolutely adore), I do also shoot on my Canon 600D with a few different lenses. I hope you guys enjoy my blog, since the I started it almost a year ago the support I've gotten has been amazing. So if you feel like it share it with anyone you want.

Thank you all so much.

Righteous Living

Since moving to Mongolia, something that my family has started doing a lot more of is supporting smaller NGO's (Non Government Organisations). One that we have gone out to the most is the Righteous Living program, This is a fully Mongolian operated organisation working out of the geer district here in Mongolia. This organisation takes kids and adults that are homeless or out of work for what ever reason, and it gives them shelter and work experience. Last time I went I got to take photos of the kids there and they really are the cutest kids ever. They don't speak any English but even so with a small amount of Mongolian that I know it was a really enjoyable and enlightening experience and is every time I go out there.

These aren't by any means my best photos, but I wanted get this amazing organisation out there. Hope you guys like.

My first attempt at "traditional" art

This being my 2nd year in the DP program, I have had to drastically change the way I do my visual art class. Up until now I have basically only submitted photographic pieces while they are not standard photography pieces, IB does require me to actually draw. So I decided to take one of my images and turn it into basically a life size sketch. I am only half way but I wanted to show everyone what my progress has been so far.
This drawing is one of the reasons I haven't been uploading much recently. I hope you guys enjoy it, I'll post the finish product when I finish.

Mi clase de Español

That moment when you are doing nothing in spanish class as normal so you whip out your camera and try and enjoy yourself :P.
Just some fun i had in my Spanish class with one of my good friends.

sorry for the lack of uploads recently. I have really been knuckling down on my IB DP work both in art and EE hopefully soon I should have some more consistent uploads.

Thank you all for sticking around even without posts

First attempt of tattoo photography

Tattoo photography wasn't something that I thought I would do any time soon, but life surprises you and after my "Re-Finding my self" Piece I had a makeshift tattoo photoshoot and the results actually turned out pretty good. These were the final images from that shoot.

Throw back to football acamis

With that start of our official volleyball season this Friday with our first games. I decided to look back at our last year football Acamis where we had an amazing 2nd place finish, where we were the only team that scored against the champions which was pretty awesome :P. The video in this is also the save that got me scouted just had to add it in there.

"Re-finding yourself"

This morning I finally got around to finishing one of my replacement pieces for my DP IB art program. The title of this is Re-finding yourself, and the meaning behind it is deeper than you might think. Before you keep reading I want you to think to yourself, what does this mean?

Done thinking? Okay then. I created this piece to resemble someone re-finding their true self. the blurred out water is done to resemble the past, blurred because it wasn't really them, the in focus face resembles the true them. Another way to describe it is rebirth from a cloudy past.

I hope you guys like these images, they were a heap of fun to make and yeah, Thank you so much to my 3 amazing models.
Hope you guys enjoy.

Early morning hike

Earlier this week I went for a very early morning hike, with one of my friends. I decided that maybe I should wake up early get a bright start to the day get some blood flowing and get more in shape for volleyball season. While that was a very short lived decision, these are the best images I got from that morning, using my canon 600D with a 10-18mm wide angle. I hope you guys enjoy.
