About me

My name is Lachlan Mahoney. I am 17 and Australian, but for the past several years I have been living in Mongolia after moving from England. I have been to 31 countries and been photographing them for about 4 years. I am a self taught photographer with the dream of one day making it big in the industry. This blog is my way of sharing my world with everyone, and bringing them along on my amazing adventures as well as showing how I progress with my photography. I currently am shooting on a fuji x100s (which is something I absolutely adore), I do also shoot on my Canon 600D with a few different lenses. I hope you guys enjoy my blog, since the I started it almost a year ago the support I've gotten has been amazing. So if you feel like it share it with anyone you want.

Thank you all so much.

Speeches

Raw emotion is something that we don't see that often in our daily lives. We suppress them so other don't see "weakness".
But the other night at our schools senior graduation that's all we saw, not only from the graduates but also from the speakers, the teachers and everyone that was in the audience.
Being right underneath the stage I got to see these emotions and I wanted to share them with you guys.

Masks

Masks. Something made for war to strike fear into the enemies' hearts. Or they are used to hide true emotion, like they were used for in drama. Now days masks aren't really used for much expect for hiding our identity. But when you add a single light in a black room the shadows the cast on the face is pretty cool. So here are some experiments that I created during my contrast piece experimentation

Btw these are all self portraits, Images I took of myself.

Blue lightening

When you are creating a new piece and it isn't something that you have tried before or even if you have doing some experiments and practice can sometime really pay off. And you never know, sometimes you get some really cool results. These were taken during the first part of my most recent project which I am currently half way through.

Japanese Street Food

Japanese street food, is something that is really amazing and that you cannot miss out on. These were taken in Hiroshima where they are famous for okonomiyaki, which is basically egg, cheese and cabbage that has been fried on his hot grill right in front of you and you ask for what type you want and it is deffinatly worth it no matter how dodgey something looks. Although it is a bit difficult to find sometimes just go with someone that knows it makes it a lot more enjoyable and easier

Le male model :P

These are some photos of a friend of mine. Who is a pretty good football keeper. The 2 bottom images are from football acamis this year one our way home from China and the top one is from Japan last year. He is quite photogenic for a guy and always a laugh haha.
Hope you like

Bored at school

Most people at school when they get bored they play on their phones or swing on their chairs or start having a chat with their friends. But when the teacher stops talking and we have time between classes normally I take out my camera and start taking photos, not normally good ones just photos that pass the time. But every now and then I take a decent image and I decided to share 2 recent ones I took.
While we are on the subject of school, I wouldn't expect too many if any uploads until Sunday as this week is finals week and Saturday is prom. But after that it should be back to normal. But don't go anywhere I'll be back I promise :P :P see you guys in a week

Creating Similarities

Both photos from Berlin, one from church and the other from a bus, but you can still the connection, or people sitting in lines like they were in mass, and the roof similarities.
It might be a bit of a stretch to find or make connections in photography and art but if you study it, it is something that sadly you have to do. I wanted to share a brief insight into what we have to do for DP art

Amsterdam street photography

Because Amsterdam is full of bike and not a lot of other things, the street-photography there tends to become a lot of bikes, which do actually serve as a very good subject if you give it  a chance you will normally get some very nice images from it.

German Flea Market

Flea markets in any country always have some amazingly interesting things, sadly in Germany these flea markets are extremely strict and have very serious rule about no photography inside the place, so here are some sneaky photos I took whilst I was there

Funniest part of Creative Arts

Last night our school had its annual creative arts evening, where anyone with a talent gets to share it with the school, if they want to that is.
But last night I was one of the photographers and was assigned stage duty which lets be honest is the best position, and because of this I was right up in the action when our volley ball coach came out on stage for his annual "gate crash" his character always is funny, so I decided I'll show it off. Here are his best photos from last night

Experimenting with light

Just doing some experiments with light painting, for my new project. I am going to do either UV painting or man on fire. But just something interesting that I did and a very short amount of time. Experimentation is worth it sometime you get some cool outcomes.

Waiting for the train

All though the left image is a re-upload, I wanted to show this image to show how similar Japan and Germany really are. They are both extremely rich countries with a very old population, and because of this very modern country and its older population you
get some cool contrast between the old and the new that they both
get.

Bikes

Bikes, not something Europe has a shortage of, especially old ones, that actually give some pretty cool images. Going around an old city on a bike is really the best way to see the city in it's entirety, and defiantly is the most fun.
