About me

My name is Lachlan Mahoney. I am 17 and Australian, but for the past several years I have been living in Mongolia after moving from England. I have been to 31 countries and been photographing them for about 4 years. I am a self taught photographer with the dream of one day making it big in the industry. This blog is my way of sharing my world with everyone, and bringing them along on my amazing adventures as well as showing how I progress with my photography. I currently am shooting on a fuji x100s (which is something I absolutely adore), I do also shoot on my Canon 600D with a few different lenses. I hope you guys enjoy my blog, since the I started it almost a year ago the support I've gotten has been amazing. So if you feel like it share it with anyone you want.

Thank you all so much.

Bunker Life

Imagine waking up to the sound of people crying and bombs falling on what use to be your house, and this happening for 5 years with out stop.
This is what the people of Germany and Berlin lived with during WWII, waking up every morning to cold concert and no food.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to live in the time that we do. Visiting places like this really opens your eyes to our luck.

By the lamp light

Photos of lights now days are very hard to get as modern lights are done by creating what are basically mini explosions and this causes flickering that a camera lenses captures, so to get the best lamp shots you need to look at older lights, use lamps that still require heat to work these are the best and they create some interesting images.

Sorry about the past week everyone I was in China for a sporting event which we placed 2nd in so I was unable to post anything new.

Temples

Throwback to Japan looking through some of the temple photos I took, Just remembering the serenity of this place and how surreal it was to see something like this. There are few places I have been that I would go back to in a heart beat but this is defiantly one of them, and I'm not just saying that.

Keep your coins, I want change

We all want change, yet we all don't strive to achieve that change. Everyday there are more and more people being thrown into poverty, and a very large number of those people are veterans men and women that put their lives on the line to protect us, and we repay them by not helping them when they get home. Most of the People that are in poverty are not their on their own accords it is not to say that there aren't people who are their because of their life choices and those people won't change but to the people who are out there and hoping for change in their lives that never comes. So rather than donating to a charity that "helps" a homeless person, do it your self, if you are walking around town and see them don't try to avoid them, talk to them or buy them lunch start somewhere small because even the smallest things in life can mean so much to a person and we don't even realise it.

Keep your coins, I want change

I want to say thank you to everyone that is a part of this project, it means so much to me that you guys were brave enough to help with this even those who helped with just shooting ideas, thank you.
And a huge thank you to my three models for being brave enough to allow me to do this, this is something that means a lot to me and you guys gave me the ability to do this.
Thank you guys so much for all the support over the past 4 months reaching that first milestone really means a lot to me and at the next being 5k I'll do something bigger than this.

Forgotten On The Journey

With the rapid development of the countries that we live in we forget those that get left behind. We forget those that keep our countries safe and we reward them by forgetting about their sacrifices. We forget those that get abused and left to rot, we forget those born in to situations we forget. and it is time we stop. Stop donating and wishing that things got better for those in need. Because we can change the situations that we put onto so many people. We need to take the blame, and not pretend that we don't care. It isn't something that takes much money it is something that takes time and it is something that we have the time for. For all the veterans out there that we forget and for all of those who are lost in the river of advancement.

Some behind the scenes of the shoot

When you are on site and doing a shoot it is never good to have models that are either tired or sad or getting annoyed. When you do this you should be a bit intense but not to the level that your models get annoyed and you photos become worse because of it. You have to keep the mood up tell some jokes and make them smile, let them have breaks and never push them to do something they don't feel comfortable with.
You also shouldn't worry about taking to many photo just shoot, don't shoot rubbish and ensure that after a few photos you take a quick look to see what the basic idea is. But don't worry about taking too many photos.

You do that and you shoot, as long as you have the patience will turn out better than you probably expect it to be

Dinner flowers

So I did dinner lights but what about flowers, of course these aren't the most exciting subject in the world but it can become something interesting with just a bit of imagination and patience, although this is something I tend to preach a lot really is true, you can't rush art and all though you can always find flaws in anything, the more patient you are the better it will be.

On another note I just hit 1k views on this blog and I really wanted to say thank you to everyone thank you so much for the support and I am planning a proper photo-shoot for a project I am working on and I will upload that once the final images are complete and then I will give you guys a much larger thank you than this. But thank you all so much it does mean a lot to me that you keep coming back and I hope you guys are enjoying it.

The Wall

The Berlin wall. The wall was created to separate the East and the West, Communism and Capitalism, "Good" and "Evil". The wall was used as something to separate everyone but now days it is used as a symbol of time a reminder of harsher times. But there are some parts of the wall that are used now days as a memorial that artists use to show things that back then were never even thought of.

Seeing the wall reminded me of how lucky I am for being where I am today and to really understand the wall you have to see it, not just learn about it.
